The Siskin Center for Developmental Pediatrics is a pediatric center specializing in the care of children with developmental disabilities. We offer assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support for children with or at risk for developmental delays and disorders. Our multidisciplinary team of professionals provide comprehensive evaluations for a wide range of conditions for children from birth to teens, identifying each child’s strengths and needs, then offering recommendations for a family centered plan of care.
Early identification of children with suspected disabilities is critical for positive longterm outcomes. Ideally, young children should have their initial visit as soon as a developmental or behavioral issue is suspected.
Assessment: The initial medical assessment includes consideration of heredity, medical history, current health status, neurologic evaluation, developmental evaluation and assessment of specific concern areas. For this reason a comprehensive history is required to be completed by the family prior to the initial visit. Assessments typically last 90 minutes. All new medical referrals are initially evaluated by our medical team consisting of two Board Certified Developmental Pediatricians and three nurse practitioners who will work with the parents to develop treatment plans and appropriate recommendations.
Treatment Plans: Developing a treatment plan for your child is beneficial in many ways. A plan provides the family with a road map for services and further assessments that may be required to clarify diagnostic impressions. This may include referral to other specialists, diagnostic labs and imaging, therapy services, psychometric testing, as well as suggestions for behavioral and environmental modifications. Patients are accepted by referral only.
